A broadband access network is required for supporting the increased Internet data traffic. One of the most cost-effective solutions is the Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (E-PONs) with the efficient bandwidth assignment function by which the upstream bandwidth can be shared among access users. To satisfy the services with heterogeneous QoS characteristics, it is very important to provide QoS guaranteed network access while utilize the bandwidth efficiently. In this paper, a dual DEB-GPS scheduler in E-PON is presented to provide delay-constraint and lossless QoS guarantee to QoS service and maximize the bandwidth to best-effort service. Simulation results show our scheme outperforms the conventional bandwidth allocation scheme in E-PON system.

Due to the dynamic nature and uncertainty of grid computing, system reliability can become very unpredictable. Thus, a well-defined scheduling mechanism that provides high system availability for grid applications is required. In this letter, we propose a SLA-constrained policy-based scheduling mechanism to enhance system performance in grid. Also, we implement the proposed model and show that our policy-based scheduling mechanism can guarantee high system availability as well as support load balancing on an experimental basis.

In this paper, we discuss to the intermedia synchronization problems for high speed multimedia communication. Especially, we described how software synchronization can be operated, and estimated the skew bound in CNV when considering the network delay. And we applied CNV to the intermedia synchronization and a hybrid model (HSM) is proposed. Furthermore, we used the statistical approach to evaluate the performance of the synchronization mechanisms. The results of performance evaluation show that HSM has good performance in the probability of estimation error.

Quality of Service (QoS)-constrained policy has an advantage in that it satisfies QoS requirements requested by users. We propose a Quorum based resource management scheme in Grid and resource reconfiguration algorithm based on temporal execution time estimation for satisfying QoS. We compare and evaluate the processing time and deviation of the resource reconfiguration algorithm using a Heart Hemodynamics analysis.

Recently, the necessity of interconnection between wired Grid and wireless networks has grown up. In wireless Grid, an efficient resource management is essential in order to solve the problem of unreliability caused by intermittency of wireless since mission-critical service like e-Health is expected to be a main application in wireless Grid. In this letter, we consider replica management to provide a reliable resource management and computing, and propose Surrogate integrated PQRM (S-PQRM) architecture with cost adaptive replica management scheme. Through the theoretical analysis and simulation, we show a reliable and cost adaptive replica management scheme in aspects of reliability and cost performance within budget-constrained application.

Recently, many studies reported various advanced e-Health service systems in patient care monitoring utilizing sensor networks and questionnaire systems. We propose an informant driven e-Health service system for the identification of heart rate related mental stress factors with a simple operation of informant-client model. Through performance analysis, we show that the proposed system is a cost-effective stress identification system applicable to mobile wireless networks.

In this paper, we propose the media scheduler employing an adaptive estimator, which uses a posteriori information of data traffic characteristics to facilitate scheduling, when available, to provide on-line scheduling of dynamic scene change based on its statistical characteristics. Especially, a new adaptive scheduling scheme showed good persistent to the arrival message with bursty characteristics. And we confirmed the performance through the computer simulation when QOS requirements are given.
