By inserting a slot and metallic strips at the widened stub in a single layer and fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW) transmission line, novel dual-band and broadband operations are presented. The proposed antennas are designed to have dual-band operation suitable for applications in DCS (1720-1880 MHz), PCS (1850-1990 MHz), IMT-2000 (1920-2170 MHz), and IEEE 802.11 WLAN standards in the 2.4 GHz (2400-2484 MHz) and 5.2 GHz (5150-5350 MHz) bands. The dual-band antennas are simple in design, and the two operating modes of the proposed antennas are associated with perimeter of slots and loading metallic strips, in which the lower operating band can be controlled by varying the perimeters of the outer square slot and the higher band depend on the inner slot of the widened stub. The experimental results of the proposed antennas show the impedance bandwidths of the two operating bands, determined from 10-dB return loss, larger than 61% and 27% of the center frequencies, respectively.

In this paper, we proposed the doubly tapered electromagnetic periodic structure (DT-EPS) bandstop filters in coplanar waveguide (CPW) and cylindrical coplanar waveguide (CCPW). The DT-EPS bandstop filter not only can effectively improve the stopband rejection but also increase its bandwidth. In addition, this technique can significantly reduce the passband ripples compared with conventional case.

A compact high-temperature superconducting (HTS) bandpass filter (BPF) using coplanar waveguide (CPW) meander-line parallel-circuited resonators is proposed for microwave receiver applications. The design theory is presented based on a conventional filter theory with J-inverters. Also, analytical and numerical studies of the meander-line resonator are carried out in terms of equivalent circuit values, the resonant frequency, and the unloaded Q. Two- and four-stage 0.05 dB ripple Chebyshev BPFs at 2 GHz with relative bandwidth 60 MHz are fabricated with the metalorganic deposition (MOD)-derived YBCO films on LaAlO3 substrates and their performance are demonstrated. The measured frequency characteristics and the unloaded quality factors agree well with the theoretical and numerical results and the validity of the design theory is confirmed.
In this paper, we present a technique to obtain an accurate closed-form spatial Green's function for a coplanar waveguide. The integration of the Sommerfeld integrals is performed on the real axis, and the path deformation is avoided in the sampling data. The results are in good agreement with the numerical integration over wide ranges of the signal frequency and the observation distance.

A high temperature superconductor (HTS) 5 GHz 10-pole bandpass filter (BPF) is designed by using coplanar waveguide (CPW) quarter-wavelength resonators. The 10-pole Chebyshev BPF has a center frequency 5.0 GHz and a fractional bandwidth 3.2%. Based on an equivalent circuit with J- and K-inverters, the filter is first designed by using an EM simulator. Next an optimization algorithm is employed to diagnose the discrepancy between the filter responses calculated by the EM simulator and the equivalent circuit. Adjustment of the dimensions of the filter is made thereby. The frequency response of the adjusted filter satisfies well the design specifications.

Basic characteristics of a short-ended half-wavelength resonator made of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) and their applications to bandpass filters (BPFs) are discussed. The first part of this paper gives the essence for improving out-of-band characteristics of the BPF by describing the basic characteristics of a tap-coupled resonator. Secondly, a new BPF with attenuation poles using the short-ended half-wavelength CPW resonators is proposed and realized. It is confirmed that our methodology is useful for improving out-of-band characteristics of the BPF using the short-ended half-wavelength CPW resonators without complicated filter design.

As an RF high Tc superconducting (HTS) front end for a microwave receiver, we propose a new design method for the broadband matching circuit composed of coplanar waveguide (CPW) meanderline resonators connecting a slot antenna with CMOS low noise amplifier (LNA). The parameters of the antenna sections with matching circuit are calculated and simulated with the circuit simulator and electromagnetic field simulator. CMOS LNA was designed and its input and output impedances and noise figure were obtained by SPICE simulation.
