SAFER block cipher family consists of SAFER K, SAFER SK, SAFER+ and SAFER++. As the first proposed block cipher of them, SAFER K is strengthened by SAFER SK with improved key schedule. SAFER+ is designed as an AES candidate and Bluetooth uses a customized version of it for security. SAFER++, a variant of SAFER+, is among the cryptographic primitives selected for the second phase of the NESSIE project. In this paper, we take advantage of properties of the linear transformation and S-boxes to identify new impossible differentials for SAFER SK, SAFER+, and SAFER++. Moreover, we give the impossible differential attacks on 4-round SAFER SK/128 and 4-round SAFER+/128(256), 5-round SAFER++/128 and 5.5-round SAFER++/256. Our attacks significantly improve previously known impossible differential attacks on them. Specifically, our attacks on SAFER+ are the best attack in terms of number of rounds.

In video-text retrieval task, mainstream framework consists of three parts: video encoder, text encoder and similarity calculation. MMT (Multi-modal Transformer) achieves remarkable performance for this task, however, it faces the problem of insufficient training dataset. In this paper, an efficient multimodal aggregation network for video-text retrieval is proposed. Different from the prior work using MMT to fuse video features, the NetVLAD is introduced in the proposed network. It has fewer parameters and is feasible for training with small datasets. In addition, since the function of CLIP (Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training) can be considered as learning language models from visual supervision, it is introduced as text encoder in the proposed network to avoid overfitting. Meanwhile, in order to make full use of the pre-training model, a two-step training scheme is designed. Experiments show that the proposed model achieves competitive results compared with the latest work.

This letter proposes a track before detect scheme embedded in coherent repeated interference with the aid of frequency diversity array. The unmatched properties between echo and interferences are firstly discussed from both signal processing and data processing standpoints. Afterward, the interference suppression algorithm with virtual channel weighting at continue sampling stage is proposed, followed with kinematics constraint correspondingly. Further, the evaluations of the interference suppression performance are carried out through simulations which illustrate the feasibility and validity of the proposed algorithm.

We report for the first time the design, process and characterization of InP-based micrometer emitter InGaAlAs/GaAsSb/InP Double HBTs (DHBTs) and their microwave performance. The layer structure not only allows the implementation of InP collector free of current blocking, but also enables small turn-on voltage and ballistic launching of electrons due to the positive conduction band discontinuity of emitter to base. The DHBT structure was grown on nominal (001) InP substrates using MBE. Solid Si and CBr4 gas were used for n-type and p-type doing respectively. Fabricated large DHBTs showed high DC gain (> 80), small turn-on voltage 0.62 V, almost zero offset voltage, and nearly ideal base and collector current characteristics (ideality factors 1.0 for both B-E and B-C junctions). Small DHBTs demonstrated VCEO > 8 V and stable operation at high current density exceeding 100 kA/cm2. Maximum fT of 57 GHz and maximum fmax of 66 GHz were achieved from 1 20 µm2 devices at similar bias condition: JC = 8.0 104 A/cm2 and VCE =3.5 V. The InGaAlAs/GaAsSb/InP DHBTs appear to be a very promising HBT solution having simultaneous excellent RF and DC performances.

There is still much problem in sizing software despite the existence of well-known software sizing methods such as Function Point method. Many developers still continue to use ad-hoc methods or so called "expert" approaches. This is mainly due to the fact that the existing methods require much information that is difficult to identify or estimate in the early stage of a software project. The accuracy of ad-hoc and "expert" methods also has much problem. The entity-relationship (ER) model is widely used in conceptual modeling (requirements analysis) for data-intensive systems. The characteristic of a data-intensive system, and therefore the source code of its software, is actually well characterized by the ER diagram that models its data. This paper proposes a method for building software size model from extended ER diagram through the use of regression models. We have collected some real data from the industry to do a preliminary validation of the proposed method. The result of the validation is very encouraging.

Schottky gas sensors of CO were fabricated using high quality AlGaN/GaN/Si heterostructures. The CO sensors show good sensitivity in the temperature range of 250 to 300 (530%, at 160 ppm CO in N2) and fast response comparable with SnO2 sensors. A two-region linear regime was observed for the dependence of sensitivity on CO concentration. GaN sensors on Si substrate offer the possibility of integration with Si based electronics. The gas sensors show slow response with time, the change of material properties possibly in the presence of large thermal stress.

In this paper, we focus on a centralized spectrum access strategy in a cognitive radio network, in which a single licensed spectrum with one primary user (PU) and several secondary users (SUs) (multiple input streams) are considered. We assume the spectrum can be divided into multiple channels and the packets from variable SUs can arrive at the system simultaneously. Taking into account the priority of the PU, we suppose that one PU packet can occupy the whole licensed spectrum, while one SU packet will occupy only one of the channels split from the licensed spectrum when that channel is not used. Moreover, in order to reduce the blocking ratio of the SUs, a buffer with finite capacity for the SUs is set. Regarding the packet arrivals from different SUs as multiple input streams, we build a two-dimensional Markov chain model based on the phase of the licensed spectrum and the number of SU packets in the buffer. Then we give the transition probability matrix for the Markov chain. Additionally, we analyze the system model in steady state and derive some important performance measures for the SUs, such as the average queue length in the buffer, the throughput and the blocking ratio. With the trade-off between different performance measures, we construct a net benefit function. At last, we provide numerical results to show the change trends of the performance measures with respect to the capacity of the SU buffer under different network conditions, and optimize the capacity of the SU buffer accordingly.

Pt Schottky diode gas sensors for carbon monoxide (CO) were fabricated using slightly Si doped bulk GaN grown on sapphire substrate. The influence of diode size, Pt thickness, operating temperature on gas sensitivity was investigated. CO sensitivity was improved six times by optimizing the size and thickness of the Pt contact. Surface restructuring and morphology changes of Pt film were observed after thermal annealing. These changes are enhanced as the film thickness is reduced further and contribute to improve CO sensitivity.

AlN/GaN Metal Insulator Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors (MISFETs) were designed, simulated and fabricated. DC, S-parameter and power measurements were also performed. Drift-diffusion simulations using DESSIS compared AlN/GaN MISFETs and Al32Ga68N/GaN Heterostructure FETs (HFETs) with the same geometries. The simulation results show the advantages of AlN/GaN MISFETs in terms of higher saturation current, lower gate leakage and higher transconductance than AlGaN/GaN HFETs. First results from fabricated AlN/GaN devices with 1 µm gate length and 200 µm gate width showed a maximum drain current density of 380 mA/mm and a peak extrinsic transconductance of 85 mS/mm. S-parameter measurements showed that current-gain cutoff frequency (fT) and maximum oscillation frequency (fmax) were 5.85 GHz and 10.57 GHz, respectively. Power characteristics were measured at 2 GHz and showed output power density of 850 mW/mm with 23.8% PAE at VDS = 15 V. To the authors knowledge this is the first report of a systematic study of AlN/GaN MISFETs addressing their physical modeling and experimental high-frequency characteristics including the power performance.

A novel Nyquist Folding Receiver (NYFR) based passive localization algorithm with Sparse Bayesian Learning (SBL) is proposed to estimate the position of a spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).Taking the geometry and kinematics of a satellite into consideration, this paper presents a surveillance geometry model, which formulates the localization problem into a sparse vector recovery problem. A NYFR technology is utilized to intercept the SAR signal. Then, a convergence algorithm with SBL is introduced to recover the sparse vector. Furthermore, simulation results demonstrate the availability and performance of our algorithm.

Investigations were carried out on metalorganic-chemical-vapor-deposition (MOCVD)-grown strained AlGaN/ GaN/sapphire structures using X-ray diffratometry. While AlGaN with lower AlN molar fraction (< 0.1) is under the in-plane compressive stress, it is under the in-plane tensile stress with high AlN molar fraction (> 0.1). Though tensile stress caused the cracks in AlGaN layer with high AlN molar fraction, we found that the cracks dramatically reduced when the GaN layer quality was not good. Using this technique, we fabricated a GaInN multi-quantum-well (MQW) surface emitting diodes were fabricated on 15 pairs of AlGaN/GaN distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) structures. The reflectivity of 15 pairs of AlGaN/GaN DBR structure has been shown as 75% at 435 nm. Considerably higher output power (1.5 times) has been observed for DBR based GaInN MQW LED when compared with non-DBR based MQW structures.

In this paper, we consider the transmission needs of communication networks for two classes of secondary users (SUs), named SU1 and SU2 (lowest priority) in cognitive radio networks (CRNs). In such CRNs, primary users (PUs) have preemptive priority over both SU1's users (SU1s) and SU2's users (SU2s). We propose a preemptive scheme (referred to as the P Scheme) and a non-preemptive scheme (referred to as the Non-P Scheme) when considering the interactions between SU1s and SU2s. Focusing on the transmission interruptions to SU2 packets, we present a probabilistic returning scheme with a returning probability to realize feedback control for SU2 packets. We present a Markov chain model to develop some formulas for SU1 and SU2 packets, and compare the influences of the P Scheme and the Non-P Scheme in the proposed probabilistic returning scheme. Numerical analyses compare the impact of the returning probability on the P Scheme and the Non-P Scheme. Furthermore, we optimize the returning probability and compare the optimal numerical results yielded by the P Scheme and the Non-P Scheme.

The security analysis of Keccak, the winner of SHA-3, has attracted considerable interest. Recently, some attention has been paid to distinguishing Keccak sponge function from random permutation. In EUROCRYPT'17, Huang et al. proposed conditional cube tester to recover the key of Keccak-MAC and Keyak and to construct practical distinguishing attacks on Keccak sponge function up to 7 rounds. In this paper, we improve the conditional cube tester model by refining the formulation of cube variables. By classifying cube variables into three different types and working the candidates of these types of cube variable carefully, we are able to establish a new theoretical distinguisher on 8-round Keccak sponge function. Our result is more efficient and greatly improves the existing results. Finally we remark that our distinguishing attack on the the reduced-round Keccak will not threat the security margin of the Keccak sponge function.
