To improve the control performance of the permanent magnet synchronous motor speed control system, the fractional order calculus theory is combined with the sliding mode control to design the fractional order integral sliding mode sliding mode surface (FOISM) to improve the robustness of the system. Secondly, considering the existence of chattering phenomenon in sliding mode control, a new second-order sliding mode reaching law (NSOSMRL) is designed to improve the control accuracy of the system. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is demonstrated by simulation.

This paper proposes a novel differential active self-interference canceller (DASIC) algorithm for asynchronous in-band full-duplex (IBFD) Gaussian filtered frequency shift keying (GFSK), which is designed for wireless Internet of Things (IoT). In IBFD communications, where two terminals simultaneously transmit and receive signals in the same frequency band, there is an extremely strong self-interference (SI). The SI can be mitigated by an active SI canceller (ASIC), which subtracts an interference replica based on channel state information (CSI) from the received signal. The challenging problem is the realization of asynchronous IBFD for wireless IoT in indoor environments. In the asynchronous mode, pilot contamination is induced by the non-orthogonality between asynchronous pilot sequences. In addition, the transceiver suffers from analog front-end (AFE) impairments, such as phase noise. Due to these impairments, the SI cannot be canceled entirely at the receiver, resulting in residual interference. To address the above issue, the DASIC incorporates the principle of the differential codec, which enables to suppress SI without the CSI estimation of SI owing to the differential structure. Also, on the premise of using an error correction technique, iterative detection and decoding (IDD) is applied to improve the detection capability while exchanging the extrinsic log-likelihood ratio (LLR) between the maximum a-posteriori probability (MAP) detector and the channel decoder. Finally, the validity of using the DASIC algorithm is evaluated by computer simulations in terms of the packet error rate (PER). The results clearly demonstrate the possibility of realizing asynchronous IBFD.

Model-based sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is promising for high-speed operation to estimate motor state, which is the speed and the position of the rotor, via electric signals of the stator, beside the inevitable fact that estimation accuracy is degraded by electromagnet interference (EMI) from switching devices of the converter. In this paper, the simulation system based on Luenberger observer and phase-locked loop (PLL) has been established, analyzing impacts of EMI on motor state estimations theoretically, exploring influences of EMI with different cutoff frequency, rated speeds, frequencies and amplitudes. The results show that Luenberger observer and PLL have strong immunity, which enable PMSM can still operate stably even under certain degrees of interference. EMI produces sideband harmonics that enlarge pulsation errors of speed and position estimations. Additionally, estimation errors are positively correlated with cutoff frequency of low-pass filter and the amplitude of EMI, and negatively correlated with rated speed of the motor and the frequency of EMI.  When the frequency is too high, its effects on motor state estimations are negligible. This work contributes to the comprehensive understanding of how EMI affects motor state estimations, which further enhances practical application of sensorless PMSM.

We evaluated the transmission performance, including received power and transmission throughput characteristics, in 4×4 single-user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) transmission for synchronous time division duplex (TDD) and downlink data channels in comparison with single-input single-output (SISO) transmission in an environment where a local 5G wireless base station was installed on the roof of a research building at our university. Accordingly, for the received power characteristics, the difference between the simulation value, which was based on the ray tracing method, and the experimental value at 32 points in the area was within a maximum difference of approximately 10 dB, and sufficient compliance was obtained. Regarding the transmission throughput versus received power characteristics, after showing a simulation method for evaluating throughput characteristics in MIMO, we compared the results with experimental results. The cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the transmission throughput shows that, at a CDF of 50%, in SISO transmission, the simulated value is approximately 115Mbps, and the experimental value is 105Mbps, within a difference of approximately 10Mbps. By contrast, in MIMO transmission, the simulation value is 380Mbps, and the experimental value is approximately 420Mbps, which is a difference of approximately 40Mbps. It was shown that the received power and transmission throughput characteristics can be predicted with sufficient accuracy by obtaining the delay profile and the system model at each reception point using the both ray tracing and MIMO simulation methods in actual environments.

This study proposes a new asynchronous Multi-Rate Multiple-Access Differential Chaos Shift Keying (MRMA-DCSK) scheme, ensuring significant data rates for all users. This scheme assigns a unique chaos sequence with a different length to each user. During the first data transmission period, each user transmits the chaos sequence as the reference signal, followed by multiple data bits by sharing the same reference signal in subsequent periods. The proposed scheme affects the bit-error-rate (BER) performance with the number of users, data rate related parameters (L), and length of chaos signals. The simulation results are verified by the derived analysis and show that the proposed scheme achieves higher data rates (from 1/2 to L/L+1) than a conventional scheme while enhancing bit-error-rate (BER) performance.

This paper introduces a deep reinforcement learning approach to solve the virtual network function scheduling problem in dynamic scenarios. We formulate an integer linear programming model for the problem in static scenarios. In dynamic scenarios, we define the state, action, and reward to form the learning approach. The learning agents are applied with the asynchronous advantage actor-critic algorithm. We assign a master agent and several worker agents to each network function virtualization node in the problem. The worker agents work in parallel to help the master agent make decision. We compare the introduced approach with existing approaches by applying them in simulated environments. The existing approaches include three greedy approaches, a simulated annealing approach, and an integer linear programming approach. The numerical results show that the introduced deep reinforcement learning approach improves the performance by 6-27% in our examined cases.

Studies on intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJs) of cuprate superconductors are reviewed. A system consisting of a few IJJs provides phenomena to test the Josephson phase dynamics and its interaction between adjacent IJJs within a nanometer scale, which is unique to cuprate superconductors. Quasiparticle density of states, which provides direct information on the Cooper-pair formation, is also revealed in the system. In contrast, Josephson plasma emission, which is an electromagnetic wave radiation in the sub-terahertz frequency range from an IJJ stack, arises from the synchronous phase dynamics of hundreds of IJJs coupled globally. This review summarizes a wide range of physical phenomena in IJJ systems having capacitive and inductive couplings with different nanometer and micrometer length scales, respectively.

An asymmetric zero correlation zone (A-ZCZ) sequence set can be regarded as a special type of ZCZ sequence set, which consists of multiple sequence subsets. Each subset is a ZCZ sequence set, and have a common zero cross-correlation zone (ZCCZ) between sequences from different subsets. This paper supplements an existing construction of A-ZCZ sequence sets and further improves the research results. Besides, a new construction of A-ZCZ sequence sets is proposed by matrices transformation. The obtained sequence sets are optimal with respect to theoretical bound, and the parameters can be chosen more flexibly, such as the number of subsets and the lengths of ZCCZ between sequences from different subsets. Moreover, as the diversity of the orthogonal matrices and the flexibility of initial matrix, more A-ZCZ sequence sets can be obtained. The resultant sequence sets presented in this paper can be applied to multi-cell quasi-synchronous code-division multiple-access (QS-CDMA) systems, to eliminate the interference not only from the same cell but also from adjacent cells.

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) allows several users to multiplex in the power-domain to improve spectral efficiency. To further improve its performance, it is desirable to reduce inter-user interference (IUI). In this paper, we propose a downlink asynchronous NOMA (ANOMA) scheme applicable to frequency-selective channels. The proposed scheme introduces an intentional symbol offset between the multiplexed signals to reduce IUI, and it employs cyclic-prefixed single-carrier transmission with frequency-domain equalization (FDE) to reduce inter-symbol interference. We show that the mean square error for the FDE of the proposed ANOMA scheme is smaller than that of a conventional NOMA scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed ANOMA with appropriate power allocation achieves a better sum rate compared to the conventional NOMA.

This paper proposes a novel interference cancellation technique that prevents radio receivers from degrading due to periodic interference signals caused by electromagnetic waves emitted from high power circuits. The proposed technique cancels periodic interference signals in the frequency domain, even if the periodic interference signals drift in the time domain. We propose a drift estimation based on a super resolution technique such as ESPRIT. Moreover, we propose a sequential drift estimation to enhance the drift estimation performance. The proposed technique employs a linear filter based on the minimum mean square error criterion with assistance of the estimated drifts for the interference cancellation. The performance of the proposed technique is confirmed by computer simulation. The proposed technique achieves a gain of more than 40dB at the higher frequency part in the band. The proposed canceler achieves such superior performance, if the parameter sets are carefully selected. The proposed sequential drift estimation relaxes the parameter constraints, and enables the proposed cancellation to achieve the performance upper bound.

Differentiable neural architecture search (DARTS) is now a widely disseminated weight-sharing neural architecture search method and it consists of two stages: search and evaluation. However, the original DARTS suffers from some well-known shortcomings. Firstly, the width and depth of the network, as well as the operation of two stages are discontinuous, which causes a performance collapse. Secondly, DARTS has a high computational overhead. In this paper, we propose a synchronous progressive approach to solve the discontinuity problem for network depth and width and we use the 0-1 loss function to alleviate the discontinuity problem caused by the discretization of operation. The computational overhead is reduced by using the partial channel connection. Besides, we also discuss and propose a solution to the aggregation of skip operations during the search process of DARTS. We conduct extensive experiments on CIFAR-10 and WANFANG datasets, specifically, our approach reduces search time significantly (from 1.5 to 0.1 GPU days) and improves the accuracy of image recognition.

In this paper, we propose four optimization methods during the Register Transfer Level (RTL) conversion from synchronous RTL models into asynchronous RTL models. The modularization of data-path resources and the use of appropriate D flip-flops reduce the circuit area. Fixing the control signal of the multiplexers and inserting latches for the data-path resources reduce the dynamic power consumption. In the experiment, we evaluated the effect of the proposed optimization methods. The combination of all optimization methods could reduce the energy consumption by 21.9% on average compared to the ones without the proposed optimization methods.

In this paper, we propose a design method to design asynchronous circuits with bundled-data implementation on commercial Field Programmable Gate Arrays using placement constraints. The proposed method uses two types of placement constraints to reduce the number of delay adjustments to fix timing violations and to improve the performance of the bundled-data implementation. We also propose a floorplan algorithm to reduce the control-path delays specific to the bundled-data implementation. Using the proposed method, we could design the asynchronous circuits whose performance is close to and energy consumption is small compared to the synchronous counterparts with less delay adjustment.

Training deep learning (DL) is a computationally intensive process; as a result, training time can become so long that it impedes the development of DL. High performance computing clusters, especially supercomputers, are equipped with a large amount of computing resources, storage resources, and efficient interconnection ability, which can train DL networks better and faster. In this paper, we propose a method to train DL networks distributed with high efficiency. First, we propose a hierarchical synchronous Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) strategy, which can make full use of hardware resources and greatly increase computational efficiency. Second, we present a two-level parameter synchronization scheme which can reduce communication overhead by transmitting parameters of the first layer models in shared memory. Third, we optimize the parallel I/O by making each reader read data as continuously as possible to avoid the high overhead of discontinuous data reading. At last, we integrate the LARS algorithm into our system. The experimental results demonstrate that our approach has tremendous performance advantages relative to unoptimized methods. Compared with the native distributed strategy, our hierarchical synchronous SGD strategy (HSGD) can increase computing efficiency by about 20 times.

For insertion and deletion channels, there are many coding schemes based on low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, such as spatially coupled (SC) LDPC codes and concatenated codes of irregular LDPC codes and markers. However, most of the previous works have problems, such as poor finite-length performance and unrealistic settings for codeword lengths and decoding iterations. Moreover, when using markers, the decoder receives log-likelihood (LLR) messages with different statistics depending on code bit position. In this paper, we propose a novel concatenation scheme using protograph-based LDPC code and markers that offers excellent asymptotic/finite-length performance and a structure that controls the irregularity of LLR messages. We also present a density evolution analysis and a simple optimization procedure for the proposed concatenated coding scheme. For two decoding scenarios involving decoding complexity, both asymptotic decoding thresholds and finite-length performance demonstrate that the newly designed concatenated coding scheme outperforms the existing counterparts: the irregular LDPC code with markers, the SC-LDPC code, and the protograph LDPC code, which is optimized for an additive white Gaussian noise channel, with markers.

Boolean networks (BNs) are considered as popular formal models for the dynamics of gene regulatory networks. There are many different types of BNs, depending on their updating scheme (synchronous, asynchronous, deterministic, or non-deterministic), such as Classical Random Boolean Networks (CRBNs), Asynchronous Random Boolean Networks (ARBNs), Generalized Asynchronous Random Boolean Networks (GARBNs), Deterministic Asynchronous Random Boolean Networks (DARBNs), and Deterministic Generalized Asynchronous Random Boolean Networks (DGARBNs). An important long-term behavior of BNs, so-called attractor, can provide valuable insights into systems biology (e.g., the origins of cancer). In the previous paper [1], we have studied properties of attractors of GARBNs, their relations with attractors of CRBNs, also proposed different algorithms for attractor detection. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm based on SAT-based bounded model checking to overcome inherent problems in these algorithms. Experimental results prove the effectiveness of the new algorithm. We also show that studying attractors of GARBNs can pave potential ways to study attractors of ARBNs.
